WGA Advisors Launches AI Workforce Solution Initiative for $7 Billion Global Packaging and Paper Manufacturer

MELBOURNE, May 21, 2026 — WGA Advisors, a global management consulting firm specializing in AI workforce solutions and enterprise transformation, today announced the launch of a strategic AI Workforce Solution Initiative for a $7 billion publicly traded packaging and paper manufacturer. The multi-phase engagement will deploy WGA’s proprietary AI Workforce Readiness Framework to benchmark agentic AI maturity, identify high-value automation opportunities, and architect a redesigned workforce model spanning mill operations, converting, logistics, procurement, and commercial functions across the client’s North American, European, and Asia-Pacific footprint.

The initiative arrives as the global packaging and paper industry confronts converging pressures: persistent labor shortages in mill towns and converting plants, accelerating customer demand for sustainable and digitally enabled packaging, and margin compression driven by raw material and energy volatility. WGA’s engagement is structured to translate agentic AI capability into measurable operating leverage — not pilots, not proofs of concept, but production-grade workforce transformation tied to EBITDA outcomes.

The engagement is being led by Eva Wright, Managing Director at WGA Advisors, who brings more than 24 years of cross-industry transformation experience, with deep expertise in manufacturing operations, supply chain, and AI.

“The packaging and paper sector has been quietly running one of the most complex labor systems in the industrial economy — 24/7 continuous mills, highly variable converting lines, and a customer base that now expects digital-native service from a fundamentally analog supply chain. Agentic AI is not a sidecar to that environment; it becomes the connective tissue. Our framework is designed to answer the question every CEO in this industry is asking right now, which is not whether to adopt AI but where to deploy it first, how to redesign the work, and how to do it without breaking the operating model that already pays the bills,” said Wright.

About the WGA AI Workforce Readiness Framework

WGA’s AI Workforce Readiness Framework is a proprietary, multi-domain maturity assessment instrument purpose-built for enterprises adopting agentic AI at scale. The framework evaluates organizational readiness across eight interconnected domains, recognizing that AI platforms enable value but enterprise readiness determines whether value is realized.

Figure 1: WGA Advisors AI Workforce Readiness Framework — eight domains of enterprise readiness required to realize value from agentic AI deployment.

The eight domains are: Value Thesis and Use Case Focus; AI Governance and Risk Management; Cybersecurity and Identity Architecture; Data and Knowledge Readiness; Technology and Integration Architecture; Process and Workflow Redesign; People, Roles and Change Management; and Performance Management and Scaling. Each domain produces a benchmarked maturity score, a quantified value-at-stake estimate, and a sequenced 24-month transformation roadmap.

The framework draws on benchmarking practices co-equal to APQC, The Hackett Group, and Gartner, and is calibrated against agentic AI deployments observed across WGA’s portfolio of Fortune 500 and upper-middle-market clients. Wright noted that the diagnostic’s value lies as much in identifying where an organization is not ready as in identifying where it is:

“We benchmarked this client against more than 40 industrial peers using our AI Workforce Readiness Framework, and the value-at-stake is substantial — we see a credible path to 12 to 18 percent productivity uplift in targeted functions and meaningful EBITDA expansion over a three-year horizon. But the framework also tells us where the organization is not ready, which is just as important. You cannot deploy agentic AI into a function that lacks clean data, defined process, or change capacity. The discipline of the framework is that it forces sequencing, and sequencing is what separates AI transformations that compound from the ones that stall,” Wright said.

Engagement Scope and Objectives

For the packaging and paper engagement, WGA will apply the full eight-domain diagnostic across more than 40 in-scope functions, with deep instrumentation in mill maintenance and reliability, converting line optimization, demand planning, customer service, and trade promotion management. The initiative is organized into three sequenced phases over an initial 18-month horizon, with optionality to extend into a multi-year managed services arrangement:

  • Phase 1 — Diagnostic and Benchmarking (Months 1–4): Enterprise-wide application of the AI Workforce Readiness Framework, including executive interviews, functional workshops, data and technology architecture review, and quantified value-at-stake modeling. Deliverable: a board-ready maturity benchmark, prioritized agentic AI opportunity portfolio, and recommended operating model.
  • Phase 2 — Workforce and Operating Model Design (Months 5–10): Role-by-role redesign of in-scope functions, agentic AI platform selection and architecture, talent strategy (build, buy, partner), change management blueprint, and a sequenced deployment roadmap with EBITDA, working capital, and service-level targets.
  • Phase 3 — Activation and Value Realization (Months 11–18): Embedded delivery alongside client operating leaders to stand up the first three agentic AI workforce releases, instrument value tracking against framework KPIs, and transfer capability to the client’s internal AI center of excellence.

Industry Context

The global packaging and paper industry, valued at more than $1.1 trillion, is undergoing a structural reset. E-commerce continues to expand demand for corrugated and protective packaging; regulation is driving rapid substitution away from single-use plastics; and labor availability in mill communities and converting plants remains constrained. Industry executives are increasingly turning to agentic AI to address persistent gaps in scheduling, maintenance, quality, demand planning, and customer service — functions where small productivity gains translate directly to enterprise-level value given the asset intensity and thin margins of the sector.
